It broke my heart to hear the news that performances of SWEENEY TODD at 6th Street had been canceled due to the virus, but it was the right thing to do. There are others who have it worse off, and some that never opened at all.
We all know that one of the beautiful things about live theater is that it is ethereal and fleeting, and although SWEENEY was not supposed to end so soon (after only 3 performances), I can hope it will be able to reopen. The entire design team, cast and crew are all real pros and true collaborators. Regardless of it's closing date, I was so very proud of this production. I hope that more people will be able to enjoy it, but if not, that's how it goes sometimes. To Team Sweeney - We'll always have the asylum.
